All I Have To Do Is Dream

Last night I had a dream that the air was heavy with static and I could control the TV with my hands.  But not the fancy TV with the camera in it that I'm supposed to be able to control with my hands, the 10 year old TV that's just a normal TV and not some crazy technological masterpiece.  I feel like I could control the clock radio too, except I don't have one.

Anyway, it was one of those dreams that seemed real at the time.  I don't know why I felt like writing about it, but I did.

You Drive Me Crazy

I took god damn near every freeway in Southern California the other day trying to get from La Crescenta to Corona in rush hour traffic.  I made the mistake of constantly checking the traffic on my phone, and when the route I was on jumped from saying it would take me an hour to get there to an hour and forty minutes I would just switch routes.  I think I ended up wasting more time than I saved that way.  Here's what I went through:

I took the 2 to the 5 to the 10 to the 710 to the 60 to the 605 to the 210, then I got off the freeway and took surface streets back to the 10, then I took that to the 71, which I took to the 91, and then I got on the 15 and finally made it to my destination after two hours of driving.

10 different freeways.  11 freeway changes.  Dear lord.

Sister Psychic

Last night I realized that I'm psychic.  I swear to god.

One morning a couple of weeks ago I was driving around a parking structure looking for a spot when a sound popped into my head.  Not even a song, just a short little jingle.  At first I couldn't place it, but a couple of minutes later it hit me.  It was the sound that I had as my text message alert last September and October.  This is the kind of thing that I absolutely would not be able to think of if I tried, so when it appeared in my brain all of a sudden it took me by surprise.  It's also a sound that became highly connected with a certain person that I was texting a lot those two months.  I hadn't thought about this person in a couple of months and I hadn't talked to them in six months so it was strange.

Later that same day, I was looking around a record store and flipping through some used DVDs.  I came across a movie that this aforementioned person had informed me about and that we were supposed to have watched together.  This was all getting a bit strange.  I told my mom about these two occurrences and she told me that she had had things like this happen to her multiple times before and that I was probably going to end up running into this person now.  Yeah, sure mom, whatever.

I figured that if I were to run into this person it would be at the next Alice Cooper concert, since I met them at an Alice Cooper concert and I know they're a huge fan.  At the time I didn't know when the concert was, but last week I discovered it's going to be in November.  At this point I had completely forgotten about the two weird signs and didn't even think about this person when I bought my concert tickets.

Then the night before last, I was in the shower getting ready for bed and the text message sound popped into my head again.  This time I recognized it right away and thought "Hah!  My mom was wrong, I haven't run into them.  It seems like those things were a bit premature for a concert in November too, so I guess she was wrong.  Things like that don't actually happen."

Yesterday I was very tired when I got up.  I recently started a new exercise routine and I've been very sore and sleeping really late.  I had a lot of work to do and originally decided to skip going to see my friend's band play like I had originally planned on doing.  But I decided that it would be nice to get out of the house and see some people, so I got myself to go.  I drove into L.A. to this little jazz club above a restaurant, got there just before my friend's set started, pulled up a seat at the bar, ordered Jack on the rocks and a caprese sandwich, and sat back to enjoy some music.

I was enjoying myself, feeling like an adult out on my own.  It was nice to be able to have a drink for the first time at this place that I had been so many times before I turned 21.  I had been to multiple shows at this place and even played there a couple of times since discovering it almost three years ago and I always had a nice time and saw people that I knew.

Now it's about halfway through my friend's set and I had just finished the first half of my sandwich.  Very delicious but very messy.  I noticed some people come in and pass by me to go down to the other end of the bar.  I picked up the second half of my sandwich very gingerly to try to keep it from falling apart, and right before I went to take a bite I glanced down at the people who had just come in.  And there they were.  The person that my mom told me I would be running into soon.  For a split second I didn't believe it, this was totally not the kind of place this person would ever be.  But I recognized their profile (with a nose that size, it's hard not to) and the sparkly jacket was exactly their style.  Still the same haircut too.

By this point my heart is going a million miles a minute and I feel like I've swallowed a bag of gravel.  I set down my sandwich, my appetite had been destroyed.  This is a person who had fallen off the face of the earth and broken my heart in the process.  I had finally healed and I never really expected to see them again.  I spent the rest of my friend's set sweaty and shaky, trying not to stare at this person but finding it impossible.  I downed the rest of my Jack Daniels, and when my friend's set ended I hopped off my stool and headed to the end of the bar.

There had never been any kind of negativity between us.  The daily texting had dropped off, but the last of it was funny and typical.  Then there had been a couple of texts about hanging out soon, which never ended up happening.  Then there was a text that even though they had met someone they still wanted to be friends.  The final texts were me wishing them a happy birthday and them sending their thanks in return.  Nothing ever cluing me in to the fact that this person wanted nothing to do with me.  I still had a DVD of theirs that I had borrowed and they had asked my to take care of, which I did, so I wanted to say hello and at least see if they wanted their movie back.

Their back was turned.  I tapped them on the arm once and got no response.  I tapped a second time.  They turned around, I said hi, and after their first glance at me they turned their head and backed against the bar and kept saying "No, I'm sorry, I can't, no..." over and over again.  I was bewildered.  Really, you can't even look at me?  The girl standing next to them was bewildered too.  She started encouraging them to talk to me, but they just kept repeating their new little mantra.  I noticed that they weren't caked in makeup like they usually were.  I asked if they wanted their DVD back.  They managed to slip in a "No, I don't." before sliding back into the chant of "I can't, no, I'm sorry..."  I turned to go back to my seat at the bar.  The girl with them stopped me and asked when this was that I had borrowed the DVD, I told her November or December.  She introduced herself and shook my hand, and then I returned to my seat.

The last performer of the night was someone who I had met once before, so I decided to stick around.  This was apparently the act that they had shown up to see.  I realized that I had seen the girl here last time this guy performed.  I half hoped that after the initial shock of seeing me this person would come to their senses and talk to me, but the other half of me stuck around so I could talk to the performer after his set.  When his set was over, somehow everyone ended up congregating right next to me to talk to him.  Of course that person didn't come up to me.  In fact, they hugged the wall all the way around the opposite side of the room to go hide in the entrance.  If anything, I could be happy that I completely ruined this person's night with my presence.

The girl came over to say goodbye to me, and I said I was sorry.  She said not to be and told me to give her a hug, so I did.  Why this very nice girl was hanging out with someone who was acting like such a tool I have no idea.  My suspicion is that they had started drinking again, which at least partially explains things.  The performer thanked me for staying through his set and gave me a couple of hugs.  Whether he had witnessed what had happened, could sense that I was upset, or if that was just his thing I'm not really sure.

So that's the story of how I realized I was psychic.  At least now I know that if I ever see signs like those again that I can prepare myself for seeing whoever they're related to.  I also know that if I ever see this person somewhere again to avoid them like the plague.  I know that it's a bit odd and confusing that I referred to this person as "them" throughout my entire story.  I didn't want to use names, and honestly using masculine identifiers such as "he", "him", and "his" didn't seem appropriate, because that's not the way a man behaves.

I would also like to mention that a very special person not only made me feel better about the whole situation, but turned a terrible night into a wonderful one.  He's a truly amazing guy and I feel so lucky that I met him.  He's a model for how true gentlemen behave, and for that I'm thankful.

Bad Luck

I seriously don't understand why this past week has been full of such horrible luck for me.

Friday the 13th: Woke up with pink eye, got a cardboard cut on the middle finger of my left hand, and then a couple of hours later I was cutting up sweet potatoes to make fries and I sliced open the ring finger of my left hand and had to go to the emergency room and get three stitches and a TDaP shot.

Saturday my left knee started to give out.

Sunday my family went insane.

Monday my left shoulder and my neck became insanely tense and painful.  There was a bright spot though, I got a nice new touch screen all-in-one computer.  But then my right knee started to give out too.

Tuesday I slid down my front steps and twisted my left ankle.

Wednesday I went to see Foxy Shazam and some guy standing behind me reached over me to grab for a drumstick at the end of the concert and then tried to pull it through my head, which resulted in an instantaneous green lump on my forehead and a massive headache.

Thursday was alright, I was exhausted and the lump was still sore.  Went to a free concert (Kingsize) with free drinks and a build your own ice cream sandwich bar, though, so that was cool.  Didn't fall asleep until after 9 AM though because my brain got into a down kinda place.

And then today I woke up with a nasty sore throat and my body feels like falling apart.  Ugh.  That makes seven straight days of horrendous luck, hopefully it's over now.  I also had two random guys I don't know profess their love for me this week too, so I guess that's a perk.

Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing On Rainbows

So today I was using my "Free Hugs" purse that I've had for a while and used many times, yet never had anyone approach me about it. I had been out and about running errands for a while, and by this point wasn't really consciously aware of my purse anymore. I was in a JCPenney Home Store looking at furniture, and after spending the day in and out of furniture stores I was getting used to having employees follow me around, waiting to pounce and try to get me to buy something. Seriously, they're almost like car salesmen. I thought that it was a little bit odd that they would be like that at Penneys, though. So I noticed this lady following me around the store but keeping her distance, so I was just trying to keep moving and avoiding eye contact so that I wouldn't have to tell her that I was just looking and then try to escape. Then I turned a corner and she was right there. She smiled and said "Has anyone ever approached you for a hug before?" which struck me as a very bizarre question, until I remembered my purse. I said that she was the first one and gave her a hug. She told me that she had been following me around the store trying to think of the best way to approach me about it. She said that she loves hugs so she couldn't resist! She was so nice about it and adorable and the whole thing kind of made my day.

Killer

I like that when people hear something about Alice Cooper, they think of me.

Oops, I Did It Again

I've been neglecting this sucker like craaaaaaazy. My bad.

Sooo what's happened since we last spoke...hmm...went to Palm Springs and got to meet SHAG, who is my absolute favorite artist! I'm not really an art kind of person but I just adore all of his work. I also got Disneyland passes again, so that's fun. Went to see Kathy Griffin, and I saw Jim Gaffigan too. Going to see Alice Cooper & Rob Zombie on Thursday and to the Halloween Haunt on Friday, so that's awesome. It'll be my 11th year in a row that I've gone to the haunt! In November I'm going to see Celtic Thunder with my grandma and I might see Danzig with my brother. Helped my boyfriend move too, which was interesting considering I've never helped anyone move before. But...

I'm most likely moving soon! My parents are in the process of buying a second house that I will be living in. I'm going to pay utilities and possibly contribute to the down payment and mortgage. We have an offer in on a 3 bed, 1 bath house that is pretty nice and I think I could enjoy living in. I'm excited! In the meantime, I'm trying to find a decent job so that I can pay for stuff. Scary.

Anyways, that's all I can think of for now. Ciao!

EDIT: OH DUH! I thought I had written since this happened, but it turns out I haven't. I got a puppy!!!!! He's a male Papillon and he was born on April 5th, 2010. His name is Dobby =] He's the only dog I've ever gotten that wasn't from a shelter or a rescue, he was from a pet store in the mall haha. He's adorable and fun and VERY snuggly. I love him! Anyways...yeah...now I think that's it, haha. Buh-bye!

Young At Heart

So I've been reading through all the newspaper clippings about my grandpa that I found at my grandma's house. He was a chef, and there are tons and tons of clippings talking about how amazing his food was and all of the cool events and restaurants he worked at. He planned and was the head chef for President Nixon's resignation dinner. He catered for movies. For five years in a row Bing Crosby specially picked him to be the executive chef for his golf tournament. He even got mentioned in a gossip column. For ten years he was the chef at one of the most popular and exclusive restaurants - the Scandia (which sadly no longer exists). He was President of the Orange County Chef's Association and won Chef of the Year one year. He also designed their logo (he was an extremely talented artist as well, and with no formal training) which is still used to this day. He has numerous trophies, medals, and awards for his work. He was chosen to help design the kitchen for a restaurant that was in the process of being built. He made really badass animals and sculptures out of fruit and vegetables. I am completely convinced that if his career had been in modern times he would have his own cooking show and would be a "celebrity chef", because he was definitely a celebrity chef in his time.

I may sound like I'm bragging, but I'm very proud of all of my grandpa's accomplishments and think that everything he got to do was extremely cool. I miss him.

Addicted To Love

So I went on a rampage, Facebook-liking things on the Internet Movie Database, and so far I am proud to be the first to have liked Alice Cooper, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, OK Go and each of it's individual members' pages, Meat Loaf, Matt Lanter, Oliver Reed, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, Lucille Ball, I Love Lucy, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, William Frawley, Tim Curry, Paul Lynde, Life On Mars (U.S. version), Blast From The Past, Saved, Walk Hard, Airheads, Tommy, The Gods Must Be Crazy, Bobby Vee, Neil Sedaka, Freddie Mercury, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Danny Kaye, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eddie Izzard, Wee Sing in the Marvelous Musical Mansion, Dumb & Dumberer, Vacation, European Vacation, Vegas Vacation, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Billboard Dad, and DUCKTALES!!!!! And I was second to like Michael Jackson. AND SOME BASTARD BEAT ME TO TO GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE WE GO! This is an addictive self-imposed competition and I think I should stop now.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Hey! Hope all you non-existent readers had a nice Christmas, if that's what you choose to celebrate. Mine was excellent, got a lot of nice stuff. I wasn't really in a Christmassy mood this year so I didn't have much of a list (usually I have a long color-coded list ready by Thanksgiving weekend, haha), so most of the stuff I got was a complete surprise. My mom knows pretty damn well what I like so it's all good stuff that I really like. I think I did an itemized list of what I got last year but I'm kind of tired and lazy and all the stuff I got is still in the living room.

I like how Christmas works with my family. A little something every day in December from my advent calendar, Christmas Eve morning open stockings, Christmas Eve night dinner at grandma's and opening presents from my grandma and my brother, midnight mass, then I have a freaking horrible time trying to sleep from excitement, wait until at least 7 AM (this year I woke up at 8), wake up my parents, pass out the presents, open everything, look at stuff for a while, then pass out for a few more hours (this year was about 11 AM until 3 PM), and then hang out in the living room the rest of the day enjoying my new stuff. I get dressed up for Christmas Eve and ALWAYS spend Christmas day in my pajamas. Always.

Didn't get to watch a lot of Christmas movies this year =/ Last year I pulled every Christmas movie we had out the week before Thanksgiving and scheduled what we would watch what night so that we got around to seeing everything...there were so many we had to watch 2 a night every night from Thanksgiving up until Christmas. This year I watched part of Deck The Halls, most of Christmas Vacation, and bits of other random stuff, which is sad. AND I ONLY WATCHED LIKE...1/4 OF TO GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE WE GO! That's a tragedy. I love that movie dearly and have it practically memorized line by line. I should finish it before New Year's. Just wasn't a very Christmassy year this year, but oh well. Hopefully we'll be more organized and spirited next year.

Goodnight!

Life On Mars

Wow. It's been forever since I've updated this! What's happened since we last spoke? Well for one thing, I had the most amazing experience at a mini-mart that you could ever possibly have. My mom and I like to drive around randomly in the middle of the night sometimes, and we decided to stop at this mini-mart for something to drink at like 12:30 in the morning. First thing we notice as we get out of the car is classical music playing super loud through the entire gas station. The second we stepped inside we were hit by a very strong incense smell. Now, both of these things are a little strange but not that weird. It was the clerk who really made the experience. He was this skinny black guy with glasses and an ascot sitting behind the counter reading some giant textbook...not sure why, but he reminded me of the butler on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. When we went to pay, he greeted us with an over-exaggerated, but somehow not rude, "Good morning, ladies." Who really says good morning at half-past midnight? Plus, he spoke in an obviously fake British accent, which was weird. We were impressed by the fact he didn't even use the cash register and did the math to give us change in his head, you don't expect people who work at mini-marts and fast food joints to be able to do that. Now, this was quite a while ago so I don't remember all the details, but I just remember it being hilarious and I had to turn around, bite my lip, and hold my breath until I could leave the store to keep from laughing. I really want to go back and stop in there again sometime.

You want to know what else happened in the month of October? I got the greatest Christmas present ever, that's what! The exceptionally early gift was from my dad. He bought me tickets and a VIP pass to see Alice Cooper at the Nokia in LA. I was super psyched about it in the first place because the first time I met Alice I was unable to speak, haha, and I wanted to be able to say a little something to him. Plus I got fifth-row center seats! That was awesome enough, but then came the most mind-blowingly amazing thing ever. Everyone who bought VIP passes was entered in a contest, which I knew about but brushed off figuring I would never win. I wound up completely forgetting about it until the day before the concert, when I got an e-mail informing me I had won. What exactly did I win? I GOT TO BE ON STAGE WITH ALICE COOPER. DURING THE CONCERT. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! I remember getting the e-mail. I was just waking up, and I always check my BlackBerry for e-mails and texts and anything else I might have missed while I was sleeping. Browsing through the e-mail subjects, nothing caught my eye until I saw "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO JOIN ALICE COOPER ON STA..." I couldn't believe it! At first I thought it was just a prank, but it wasn't. I called my mom right away to tell her the news. It was the most exciting thing ever! I don't think I fully believed it until it happened though, and even then I was in awe of what was happening to me. I got to go up on stage for the finale, while Alice Cooper was singing School's Out and surprise freakin' guest Slash was shredding, and I got to help throw giant balloons in the crowd. I loved seeing the reactions of the people I had been sitting around when they noticed I was up there instead of next to them, hahaha. Afterwards I got to walk past Slash backstage and hang out with Alice and the 9 other VIP pass holders in Alice's dressing room, which was awesome. When I had met him before it was in a crowded room and it was basically a free-for-all, so this was a lot more relaxed and fun. I even got Shep Gordon's autograph and I got to see Sheryl! For those not as Alice-obsessed as I am, Shep is his long-time manager and Sheryl is his wife. That was probably the greatest night of my life. I caught one of Ace Frehley's guitar picks too, but that doesn't even measure up to how awesome the rest of my night was. So if you were at the Nokia on October 28th, 2009 to see Alice Cooper, you saw me up there on stage at the end!

I think that anything else that happened since I've written last would sound pretty damn boring in comparison to that. I did finally finish watching Life On Mars though. Didn't see that ending coming! Oh, and I have a pretty awesome boyfriend. Goodnight =]

Crazy

My schedule as of the past couple of days:

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning went to sleep at around 5 AM.
Woke up Wednesday afternoon at 3 PM.
Felt like crap, skipped class, stayed home to eat and play Grand Theft Auto IV.
Became painfully sleepy for no reason.
Fell asleep on the couch at 7 PM.
Woke up at 10 PM.
Ate more, played Lego Indiana Jones, watched TV, tried to go to sleep.
Gave up on trying to sleep.
Went to Target and Fresh & Easy at 9 AM this morning.
Came home, played more GTA, had lunch, watched TV, fell asleep at 12:30 PM.
Woke up to the phone ringing at 3:50 PM.
Have been up since.

Isn't that fun? Going to sleep within the hour so I can hopefully get up at a normal time tomorrow.

The Happy Wanderer

So I haven't written lately...my bad. Uhhh...so last we spoke I had gone to Alfest. Since then I've started school, dropped my interior design class, and kept myself fairly busy. I bought an iMac and Final Cut Studio 3 because I'm getting quite into this video editing business. It's fun! Now I'm going to ask for an HD camera for Christmas.

Other than that, I can't really think of much. I just finished watching Envy, weird movie. Oh...and I met this guy at Alfest. His name is Joe. He's pretty awesome!

Bye for now =]

Tequila

The title of this entry is also a nickname of mine. I'm Tequila, my friend Maggie is Margarita, and Christina is Daquiri. Don't really remember how that all came about but it is what it is. I don't really know why I'm explaining it either.

Went to AlFest (a "Weird Al" convention) on Saturday and had A BLAST! I was a little anxious about the fact I wouldn't know anyone there, except for my mom who I dragged along, but I had soooo much fun. Lots of great musical comedy acts, celebrity panel from UHF, and just lots of awesomeness.

And I don't really have anything important to say, I'm just all antsy and I needed something to do. Bye for now.

Ballroom Blitz

All these years, my dad has told me about this guy he used to work with back in the day who said that he was in that band Sweet. All these years, my dad has also stated how much he thinks it was complete bullshit.

Today I saw Sweet play at Universal CityWalk. Guess who plays guitar for them.

I'm Your Boogie Man

I'm far too addicted to the White Zombie version of I'm Your Boogie Man lately. I registered for my classes today, how exciting! Just going part-time this semester and starting with the full-time crap in the spring. My 9 units consist of:

MONDAY: 5-5:50 PM Liftime Fitness; 7-9:50 PM History of Rock Music
WEDNESDAY: 3-4:50 PM Careers in Interior Design; 5-5:50 PM Lifetime Fitness
FRIDAY: 5-9:50 PM Digital Video (with lab)

I'm actually kind of excited. I'm just hoping the nearly 5 hour block of video won't stress me out. If it does, I'll just drop, no biggie! I really wanted to take steel drums but they canceled it =[ Hopefully it'll be back next semester, because I freaking love the steel drums.
But yeah, classes start the 17th, whoop!

In other news, going to see The Sweet tomorrow night and going to AlFest '09 Saturday. Hopefully going to the fair next week but dunno about that. Fun!

Be Chrool To Your Scuel

Picking classes for when I register in a few days. Don't really know what to take, kind of considering taking a steel drum class because I love steel drums and it sounds like fun! History of rock music sounds cool too. Might take some fashion merchandising classes or something, I really have no idea. There is also a disproportionate number of songs listened to to the length of this blog entry, but for some reason in the middle of writing I got distracted and did a bit of reading on findadeath.com for a while. I love that website! I totally want to take the tour. Now I'm off to bed, goodnight!

Summer Breeze

Nothing too exciting to report at the moment. Summer's moving right along, I need to go take placement tests for my math and English classes. I can't believe the semester starts in less than a month =[ I think my proudest accomplishment so far this summer is one that I finished today (well, technically yesterday). I watched the entire fourth season of Full House in three days! Yay! Before that I finally finished off the second season of The Golden Girls and now I'm working on the first season of The Whitest Kids U' Know, which shouldn't take too long because there are only 10 episodes. After that I may start up the first season of Wonder Showzen, I'm not too sure. All I know is that I really need to get rid of this giant stack of DVDs that's staring at me.

I've also been trying to organize my clothes. I've pulled nearly all of my shirts out of their various drawers, cabinets, and closets and gone through them to decide what goes where. Eventually I'm going to move onto pants and skirts, and then finally dresses and whatever's hiding in the closet in my room since I kind of avoid that closet. I've also been going through some of my shoes and hiding away those that I don't wear that often. I'm planning on counting up all my different categories (t-shirts by color, other shirts, shoes, purses, pants by type, etc.) and I'll post a full rundown once I'm done. For now I'm going to go take a shower and either play some Sims 3 or take a whack at Whitest Kids!
