Young At Heart

So I've been reading through all the newspaper clippings about my grandpa that I found at my grandma's house. He was a chef, and there are tons and tons of clippings talking about how amazing his food was and all of the cool events and restaurants he worked at. He planned and was the head chef for President Nixon's resignation dinner. He catered for movies. For five years in a row Bing Crosby specially picked him to be the executive chef for his golf tournament. He even got mentioned in a gossip column. For ten years he was the chef at one of the most popular and exclusive restaurants - the Scandia (which sadly no longer exists). He was President of the Orange County Chef's Association and won Chef of the Year one year. He also designed their logo (he was an extremely talented artist as well, and with no formal training) which is still used to this day. He has numerous trophies, medals, and awards for his work. He was chosen to help design the kitchen for a restaurant that was in the process of being built. He made really badass animals and sculptures out of fruit and vegetables. I am completely convinced that if his career had been in modern times he would have his own cooking show and would be a "celebrity chef", because he was definitely a celebrity chef in his time.

I may sound like I'm bragging, but I'm very proud of all of my grandpa's accomplishments and think that everything he got to do was extremely cool. I miss him.
