Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

So tonight is girls' night!  Yaaay!  My buds Maggie and Christina are coming over and we plan on playing Rock Band, doing karaoke, playing board games, and pigging out, plus whatever else we can come up with.

I had suuuuch a long day yesterday!  Got under 5 hours of sleep, up at 6, at school at 7, had to practice marching and load up on the bus to get to California Adventure, got in at about 10, went on rides, shopped, and ate until 3:15, got dressed up in the band uniform and rehearsed until 4:55, then did a 15 minute parade, got back into regular clothes, packed up the buses again, rode back to school, unpacked the buses again, came home, got into comfy clothes, had soup & watched half of The Ugly Dachshund, fell asleep on the couch, woke up and crawled into my room, and slept for about 11 hours.

The parade totally killed my back, haha.  It's been messed up for the past like 5 years and then I had to carry one of those ginormous flags which are very heavy and hard to hold balanced.  Plus it was windy, so that was fun.  At one point the flag wrapped completely around my head so I couldn't see where I was going.  I heard people watching the parade laughing at me and I had to blow the darn thing back out of my face.

Aaanyways, yeah.  I'm excited for my robobaby this week!  I get it on Monday and I am determined to get a girl.  I'm naming her Cassandra Simone Depp =]  Now I'm going to go finish getting ready for tonight, yay!  Bye for now.

Happy Birthday Fungus Face

So I turned 18 Saturday.  Yay!  I had a pretty fun birthday.  Since it's free to go to Disneyland on your birthday I went with my new pal Zack and spent the day there.  Then Sunday my grandma came over and she and my parents and I all had dinner and cake.  As far as gifts, I got a couple pretty awesome things.  Firstly, I got a 32GB iPod Touch!  I've wanted one for so long and it's even more awesome than I thought it would be.  I also got tickets to go see Tom Jones in concert (yay!), shorts, a t-shirt, a purse, and a Ty beanie baby, all of which was from my parents.  My aunt and uncle sent me a check for $18, my grandma took me shopping and I got one of the Hello Kitty eyeshadow palettes and a Hello Kitty lipgloss from MAC, and Zack gave me a really awesome Elmo wallet, some lottery tickets (I won $4 yay!), pins, and Civilization III.  I also got 3 free lipglosses from Sephora because it was my birthday, so that was exciting.

Other than that...nothing too thrilling has been going on.  School is going well, and next week I get a mechanical baby to care for for my sociology class!  I'm looking forward to that.  I'm also marching with the band in a parade at California Adventure, so that's exciting too.  That's about all I can think of for now, talk to you soon!

Birthday

Well, today isn't MY birthday (although that is fast approaching), but it is Alice Cooper's 61st birthday, so happy birthday Alice!  I wore one of my many Alice shirts today in honor of the occasion =]

Moving right along...today was my third day back at school.  I went to this high school (which I shall refer to simply as WHS for privacy purposes) for freshman and sophomore years, and then left October of my Junior year because frankly, if I hadn't, I would have lost my mind completely.  I transferred to independent study and was doing that whole bit just up until the end of last month.  I wanted to transfer back to WHS for the last semester of my senior year just to finish up the whole experience, graduate with my friends, and so I could finish where I had started.

So being back isn't that bad.  I think I'm getting back into the swing of things, although I did oversleep 15 minutes this morning but no biggie.  My schedule is actually reaaaaaally easy, because all I need to graduate is a semester of economics and 4 elective classes.  My schedule appears as follows:
1st Period - No class!
2nd Period - Beginning Band
3rd Period - Sociology
4th Period - Economics
5th Period - Teacher Assistant
6th Period - Foods
So that's pretty awesome.  The way my school's weird schedule works means that Mondays and Wednesdays I don't have to be at school until 10:15 AM, Tuesdays and Thursdays I have to be there at 8, and Fridays I have to be there at 9:45.

The classes themselves all seem pretty easy.  I took beginning band freshman year and I'm taking it again mainly because there weren't really any other electives and it's super easy.  I sit in the back with my giant xylophone, do whatever I want, and when I have to I play.  Good class to study/finish up homework in.  Sociology is pretty easy too, mainly just note taking and watching movies.  Plus in a couple of weeks we get to care for our own little mechanical baby for a week that will cry randomly all day long, so that sounds like fun haha.  Economics should be good because I had the teacher for A.P. psychology sophomore year and he's my favorite teacher.  Very laid back and full of funny stories.  Now originally I was going to T.A. for my honors bio. teacher, who I had freshman year, but she already had a T.A. for fifth period so instead I went with my honors English II teacher from sophomore year.  So far it seems like it should be an easy period, I'll probably make copies and correct stuff or something, I really don't know.  I do want to clean up the classroom though because it's a mess haha.  I found a bottle of fish food and I see no fish in that class whatsoever...so yeah.  And then foods is so much fun!  We just get to cook and eat, so that should be a nice way to finish off the day.

Well, I've blabbered enough about this so now I'm going to go heat up some food and do some homework.  Friday I have to turn in a bunch of econ. vocab. AND a chapter outline/vocab. terms for sociology so that's exciting.  And I have my drum lesson tomorrow night so I have to finish most of it today...ahhhh.  And I have to decide what I'm wearing tomorrow!  I love picking out my outfits haha.  Well...bye for now then!

Zelda's Lullaby

Today (well, technically yesterday) I spent the day at my grandma's house helping her and my mom to clean out the garage.  We've done this many times before, and we always make some progress but I also always wind up finding really cool stuff and taking it home with me.  Today was no exception!  For one thing, I found this little thingamabob that I used to have when I was a baby that projects images of Disney characters on the ceiling and plays relaxing songs.  I do have to see if I can fix it though because the projection is supposed to scroll through different pictures, but it isn't.  I also found a book that I asked for for Christmas but didn't get (Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball), a book about mysterious Hollywood deaths, and a book about the New Kids On The Block, which looks hilarious.  I found a really cool lamp that looks like a movie camera, a working rotary dial phone, 3 pairs of nice leather gloves (brown, black, and white), a couple of belts, a sweater, and a large blank canvas.  And a bag of grapefruit from my grandma's tree, haha.

THE MOST EXCITING FINDS, however, were...OLD VIDEO GAME SYSTEMS!  YAY!  So first I opened up a cabinet to find a lovely little NES staring at me...but no cords, controllers, or games.  I set that aside for later.  Then I found a Sega Genesis still in the box it came in complete with its cords and one controller.  No games there either, though.  I then stumbled across a Sega Genesis, also in the box with its cords but no controllers or games.  Finally I found a box housing an Intellivision and a Tandyvision (which plays the exact same game cartridges as the Intellivision), to which the cords and controllers are permanently attached, but again no games.  Finally at some point my mom found a box with the cords, controllers, and some games for the NES plus two more controllers and some games for the Genesis.  We still haven't found games for the other systems but I have to look more some other time.

I brought the NES and the Genesis home with me for now.  The Genesis works fine so I'm going to find a place for it and hook it up soon.  The NES works...sort of.  I was able to play a little Super Mario Bros. 2 on it but eventually it stopped working.  I'm getting the flashing screen/light so I hopefully just have to clean the contacts to get it working fine again.  The sad thing is that there used to be a ton more games for these systems but we thought we didn't have the systems anymore so we sold all the games.

So that's my exciting story for the day.  I was also very amused by the fact that I was wearing my Super Mario Bros. 3 shirt today.  But yeah...I'm going back to school Monday after being in independent study since October of 2007.  I'm looking forward to seeing people again, but definitely dreading getting up in the morning.  I know I'm going to have a free period though and I'm really hoping to get my first period free, because with the way the schedule works I'd be able to come into school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10 AM and only have to be there at 8 AM Tuesdays and Thursdays.  So wish me luck on that!
